Democrats value money more, patriotism and children less

.

The number of people who value patriotism, religious faith, and having children is in free fall, while those who value money are on the rise, according to the latest Wall Street Journal poll.

And Democrats are leading the way in the derogation of patriotism and family.

Among all adults, the share of respondents who say that patriotism is very important to them personally has fallen from 70% in 1998 to 38% in 2023. Those valuing religion and having children have also fallen from 62% and 59%, respectively, to just 39% and 30%.

During that same time, more adults say money is very important to them, rising from 31% in 1998 to 43% in 2023.

Breaking the results down by party, 59% of Republicans say patriotism is very important to them, compared to just 23% of Democrats. Religion is very important to 53% of Republicans, compared to just 27% of Democrats. An equal 45% of adults from both parties say money is important to them. Just 26% of Democrats said having children is important to them, compared to 38% of Republicans.

“I think patriotism encompasses being part of your community and helping other Americans,’’ Kevin Williams, a black resident of Bend, Oregon, who coaches youth sports and voted for Donald Trump in the last two presidential elections, said. “I just felt that I wanted to do my part to protect my country,’’ he continued, explaining why he joined the Marines after 9/11.

“For me, patriotism has turned into right-wing nationalism,” Janet Boyer, a Democrat from Cumberland Township, Pennsylvania, told the newspaper.

The same poll also showed that 80% of adults rated the economy as poor, only 22% said their personal economic situation has improved over the last year, and 78% said they were not confident that the next generation will have a better life than they are having.

Considering how negative Democrats constantly are about our country’s past, it isn’t surprising that they are leading the way away from the values that used to unify us as a nation.
